Today will be the last Robots & Computers Club for this term, as the school is bustling with Christmas activity for the rest of December.
3:30 – 3:45 Snack & Chat
Today I’m expecting the kids to be as hungry as always, so I’ll once again be bringing an extra snack with me to share, but this time it is a bag full of Dutch peppernoten cookies for Saint Nicholas for a bit of festive cheer.
During our snack time we will talk about our day, and I will explain our activities for the day. We’ll watch some Robot Christmas greetings and talk about what we see them doing on the whiteboard screen.
3:40 – 3:55 / 3:55 – 4:10 / 4:10 – 4:20
Today the plan will be to once again divide the kids up into three groups of 5, 5 & 6. I’m anticipating lots of tired kids and colds, so we’ve got a nice quiet colouring activity for those who just need a break at the end of the day. Today’s three activities are:
1. BeeBots – Christmas Path
Today we have some Christmas themed pictures on the squares to place under the mat. In groups of 5 each child will plan the BeeBots path to the next image. At the end, each child will have earned a little Bee Badge sticker that I picked up at MozFest London back in October.
2. Explore – Justin’s House Christmas Games
Today our free time on the computer is exploring Justin’s House for Christmas Games on CBeebies.
There are also some fun Advent Calendar games at CBeebies.
3. Arts & Crafts – Robot Christmas Colouring
Today our Arts & Crafts activity is to colour in some Robot Christmas pictures.
4:20 – 4:30 Video
Little Robots Series 3 – Bump in the Night. The Sparky Twins ask Scary if they can borrow Flappy to be in their new show. Scary’s not keen but agrees, only to change his mind as soon as they have taken her. The Sparkies, practising their juggling, accidentally bop Flappy on the head and she flies off erratically into the night! They panic, but with the help of Messy and a trail of bat shapes across the Little Robot world, Flappy is eventually found.
